A little history
It Started With a Puzzle About French Dinners
In the early 1990s, researchers noticed something that didn’t add up. People in France ate plenty of butter, cheese and rich sauces, yet heart trouble was relatively uncommon there. They called it the “French paradox,” and they are still debating the reasons today.
One of the ideas they looked at was red wine, and a compound in the skins of red grapes called resveratrol. Grapevines make it to protect themselves from stress, harsh sun and fungus. Since then, scientists around the world have published thousands of studies on it.
There was just one catch.
To get what’s in one capsule, you’d need more than 400 glasses of red wine. (We don’t recommend trying.) So instead of grapes, Resveratrol Premium is made from Japanese knotweed root, the plant most resveratrol supplements come from, standardized to 50% trans-resveratrol, the form researchers study most.
